Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina made her debut with humorous rap tracks that tackled racial identity and sexuality with an incisive and humorous perspective, before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum began her musical journey as a trumpet player. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was a child of Chinese immigrants and Korean immigrants. Alongside classical music and jazz, the young Nora started to study hip-hop during her teens. While in college, she took classes in writing and women's studies. She even spent some time learning Mandarin during her time in Beijing. It wasn't until she graduated that she start focusing on music. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet hit and was included on her debut album Yellow Ranger. The album also contained viral hits like body positive Queef and winking tour of her home NYC Bitche$. The song was specifically linked to Awkwafinas NYC, her travel guide for 2015. She decided to pursue acting as a profession after having completed her two previous endeavors, author and musician. Along with early series like Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in films like Neighbors to Storks. Her breakthrough came in the year 2018, with several notable films like Dude Ocean's 8 as well as Crazy Rich Asians. In June she debuted her debut film, In Fina We Trust.
